October 18: Byrd Cookie Company Tour
We’re getting our year off to a sweet start with a behind the scenes look at Savannah’s iconic cookie company. Packaged in colorful tins and now available worldwide, these yummy bite sized confections have been making local tummies happy since 1924. Our tour is scheduled for 2 p.m. following our 12:30 lunch at Bowtie Barbecue located at 6724 Waters Avenue. We will plan to carpool from Skidaway Island at 12:15, returning between 3 and 3:30 depending upon how much retail therapy we need in Byrd’s fabulous gift shop. The cost of the tour is $7.00 per person which can be paid the day of the tour. A final count is due on October 1st so NO CANCELLATIONS after this date. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you wish to attend the tour only or tour + lunch. Guests are also welcome.
November 14: Bejeweled & Be Generous
We’re very excited to announce a special event we have planned in partnership with Kendra Scott Jewelry, located at 311 West Broughton. In just 16 years, Ms. Scott has grown her company into a billion-dollar fashion brand loved globally. Her designs are fresh, fun and colorful and appeal to all ages. Philanthropy is one of the core pillars of the brand and they generously donate 20% of sale proceeds through the Kendra Gives Back Program. So, please invite your friends and come join us for some champagne, strawberries and shopping. 20% of all sales between 4 and 7:00 will be donated to Deep Center, a nonprofit founded in 2008 to address the detrimental effects of poverty on literacy in Savannah. No pressure to buy but the jewelry and store are both lovely, so chances are you’ll find a little something for yourself or someone on your holiday list. But wait, there’s more. We have dinner arranged at Garibaldi Cafe which is a quick 2-minute walk away. Seatings are at 6 and 7:00 and you will be able to order off the menu. Please email email@example.com no later than October 29 if you wish to join us for dinner. Time slots will be filled on a first come basis. And carpooling will be arranged.
December 6th : The annual Christmas luncheon
Kathryn McLearn will host at her home at 39 Seawatch Drive beginning at 11:30. We would like to enlist the help of two people to co-chair this event. Contact Beth or Chris to help. Information and details will follow in an invitation in November.
February 24: Brunch & Blithe Spirit
We’ll be traveling up to the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina on Hilton Head for a performance of this fantasy comedy by Noel Coward. Departing Skidaway at approximately 10 a.m., we’ll enjoy an early brunch at Ela’s Blu Water Grille with its pretty views of the harbor and then walk over to the theater. We are allowing lots of time at the restaurant since we will each be ordering and paying separately. Plenty of shops to browse if we are early for the theater performance at 2:00. Husbands and friends invited. Theater tickets are $42. Checks payable to Pi Beta Phi Alumni Club of Savannah are due by December 10, but may sell out earlier than that date so if you know you can go get your check in as soon as possible. Mail or tube your check to Sue Souls, 206 Yam Gandy Road, Savannah 31411.
April 27: Founder’s Day Luncheon
As we continue to embrace our inner fashionista, we are very excited to welcome Kay Stanley, fellow Pi Phi and Founder & CEO of Spartina 449, to this year’s luncheon at Vic’s on the River. Another huge success story and one of the fastest growing private companies in the U.S., the brand’s roots are firmly planted in nearby Daufuskie Island. Kay will be sharing her company’s story, inspirations and future plans with us. We hope you can join us for this very informative and yummy lunch. Lunch will be in Vic’s private Dieters Den (don’t let the name fool you) and will include a salad, choice of entrée and a decadent dessert. Cost inclusive of tax & gratuity will be approximately$35. Invitations will be mailed in March. Carpooling will be arranged.
